چکیده

We test the information efficiency of the market for SO2 permits in the US. In order to do so, we analyse the price process of these permits using techniques that have been widely used in financial economics. The evidence presented in this paper suggests that this market is efficient from an informational point of view. Although one could question this hypothesis from a statistical point of view, economic significance suggests that this market is indeed efficient. 2005 Elsevier Ltd. All rights reserved.

Hedonic Prices of Sulfur in Coal under the U.S. SO2 Allowance Market

This study investigates the efficiency of pollution permit markets by conducting an empirical study of the U.S. SO2 market. A hedonic model of coal price is estimated by using the coal price data from 1985 to 1998. The estimation results showed that the sulfur premium was in the same order as the SO2 allowance prices in the EPA auction. In addition, for 1997 and 1998, the SO2 allowance prices w...

Testing Informational Efficiency in the EU ETS

A technical and economic assessment of fuel oil hydrotreating technology for steam power plant SO2 and NOx emissions control

This work presents a simulation approach to the design and economic evaluation of fuel oil hydrotreating processes for the control of SO2 and NOx emission in an Iranian steam power plant. The percent of fuel oil desulphurization was estimated from the SO2 emissions standards for power plants. Based on two different scenarios according to (I) European and (II) Iranian standards, the design and s...

In the United States, fl ue ga...
